Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Therapeutic Assistant to join our team at Moody Neuro Rehabilitation Institute. As a Therapeutic Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing 24-hour supervision, care, and documentation of patient activities in our residential area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Observe, monitor, and document patient behavior, social interactions, and functional abilities.
  • Implement therapeutic activities designed by clinical staff and/or Case Managers.
  • Assist in emergency situations, including fire drills and first aid treatment.
  • Monitor patient self-administration of medications and document on medication sheets.
  • Transport patients to and from appointments, work, field trips, and recreational activities.
  • Provide transportation, observation, and documentation of responses on ADL outings, such as shopping trips.
  • Assist therapies upon request.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records, including seizure reports, ADL check sheets, medication sheets, shift change reports, and critical incident reports.
  • Attend in-services and staff meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality and provide a safe and secure environment for patients.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer at least two years' experience in Residential Behavioral Rehabilitation Programs or one-two years' experience with disabled populations, dealing with cognitive problems.
  • Certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) and hold current CPR and first aid certifications.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and assist patients with transfers in wheelchairs.
Work Environment

This position requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high level of patient interaction. The Therapeutic Assistant will be expected to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, adhere to Moody Neuro's policies and procedures, and maintain confidentiality of patient data and information.

This position requires standing, walking, twisting, climbing, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, and stooping for extended periods. The Therapeutic Assistant will be expected to lift patients without assistance, up to 50 pounds or more, as needed.

This position requires working with or near chemicals, potential exposure to communicable diseases, and utilizing essential upgraded or adaptive equipment as industry standards require.
