Role: School Counselor
Status: Part-Time (26 hours), Non-Exempt
Reports To: Director of Student Support Center
Compensation: $51.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

The School Counselor, under the guidance of the Director of Student Support Center, plays a crucial role in addressing the academic and emotional needs of students. Effective communication with faculty, parents, and students is vital. Collaboration with fellow counselors, the Director, academic leaders, and health professionals is expected.

  • Facilitate individual and group sessions to support students' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with the Director of the Student Support Center and academic leaders to align with the center's vision.
  • Provide strategies and resources to teachers and parents to assist students effectively.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of a curriculum focused on social-emotional learning.
  • Assist in organizing parent engagement programs in partnership with school leadership and parent associations.
  • Ensure a seamless health curriculum transition between Middle School and High School.
  • Maintain confidential records and regular office hours for student and faculty consultations.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings to discuss student support initiatives.
  • Facilitate meetings regarding individual student accommodations.
  • Work with the Student Support Team to refer students for external counseling and evaluations.
  • Communicate with parents to support student needs beyond the school environment.
  • Collaborate with academic leaders to design age-appropriate support programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external service providers.
  • Assist students with testing accommodations as needed.
  • Review psycho-educational assessments and develop suitable accommodation plans.
  • Coordinate requests for evaluations and consultations with relevant educational personnel.
  • Maintain a tracking system for students with accommodation plans.
  • Compile documentation for extended time requests through standardized testing organizations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in collaboration with school leadership.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in School or Educational Psychology, Social Work, or School Counseling, along with the necessary licensing or credentials (Pupil Personnel Services Credential or APCC, LPCC, AMFT, LMFT).
  • Knowledge of learning disabilities and psycho-educational assessment interpretation is essential.
  • Experience in independent educational institutions is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with community psycho-social resources is preferred.
