About the Role

Carilion Clinic is seeking a skilled Instrumentation Controls Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance and operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning of our building mechanical systems, control systems, and associated metering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement operational procedures and sequence of operations diagrams for systems.
  • Recognize and resolve issues to maintain environmental integrity and work productivity.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to instrumentation and custom programming.
  • Install, perform routine maintenance, and inspect systems to ensure quality work and continued functioning.
  • Troubleshoot and repair problems with HVAC control systems.
  • Commission and re-commission building systems to ensure design operation.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and resources regarding controls systems.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent education required.
  • Graduate of a trade or vocational school with courses in blueprint reading, mathematics, and physics, and specialized curriculum in HVAC&R maintenance preferred.
  • Five years of HVAC & R experience, with specific experience and strong knowledge of digital and pneumatic controls systems, hydronics, refrigeration, building control techniques, and programming.
  • Journey level experience as an HVAC mechanic.
  • CFC certification required.
  • Valid Virginia Driver's license with good driving record required.
