Key Responsibilities:
  • Establishes the strategic vision and objectives for the tax and accounting division.
  • Ensures effective recruitment, retention, and development of talent to meet business goals.
  • Directly supervises and cultivates the tax and accounting leadership team.
  • Collaborates with senior leaders across operations, human resources, finance, legal, compliance, marketing, and technology to enhance overall business performance.
  • Communicates effectively regarding Agstar's tax and accounting priorities, metrics, and achievements.
  • Guarantees that the team possesses the necessary technical expertise to provide superior tax and accounting services to agricultural clients and stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications & Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, agribusiness, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, finance, insurance, or business management.
  • Five to seven years of leadership and management experience is preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and compliance requirements pertinent to the financial sector and Farm Credit.
  • Strong focus on marketing and sales with an emphasis on business expansion.
  • Demonstrated strategic and innovative thinking.
  • Proven leadership skills to select, evaluate, engage, mentor, and motivate team members.
  • Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong interpersonal relationships.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including MS Office and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Adaptable and flexible in response to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to balance business needs with risk management effectively.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively to achieve organizational goals.
  • Valid driver's license.
