Key Responsibilities:
- Establishes the strategic vision and objectives for the tax and accounting division.
- Ensures effective recruitment, retention, and development of talent to meet business goals.
- Directly supervises and cultivates the tax and accounting leadership team.
- Collaborates with senior leaders across operations, human resources, finance, legal, compliance, marketing, and technology to enhance overall business performance.
- Communicates effectively regarding Agstar's tax and accounting priorities, metrics, and achievements.
- Guarantees that the team possesses the necessary technical expertise to provide superior tax and accounting services to agricultural clients and stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, agribusiness, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, finance, insurance, or business management.
- Five to seven years of leadership and management experience is preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and compliance requirements pertinent to the financial sector and Farm Credit.
- Strong focus on marketing and sales with an emphasis on business expansion.
- Demonstrated strategic and innovative thinking.
- Proven leadership skills to select, evaluate, engage, mentor, and motivate team members.
- Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging at all organizational levels.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain strong interpersonal relationships.
- High integrity and ethical standards.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities.
- Proficient in computer skills, including MS Office and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
- Exceptional analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Adaptable and flexible in response to changing circumstances.
- Ability to balance business needs with risk management effectively.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively to achieve organizational goals.
- Valid driver's license.
