Job Summary

This is a highly collaborative and visible role as part of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team at Securian Financial Group. The ERM team provides leadership, quantitative and qualitative analysis, in support of Securian's financial risk management, capital management, ERM governance, and risk reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support ERM Governance and Risk Reporting: Lead Securian's annual Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process, collaborating with partners across the enterprise to develop an accurate and decision-useful report.
  • Monitor ERM Best Practices: Leverage external sources to assess emerging trends, tools, and strategies, and recommend and drive enhancements to Securian's ERM framework.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Manage Securian's risk inventory, collaborating with key stakeholders and ERM Governance groups.
  • Support Climate Risk Management: Develop and execute a climate risk management framework, ensuring alignment with external regulatory requirements and internal risk management needs.
  • Lead Risk Reporting: Develop and execute new or enhanced risk reporting to Securian's Financial Risk Committee, Risk Council, and ERM Governance Groups.
  • Lead ERM Governance Group Structure: Ensure best practices are being followed, charters are regularly updated, facilitate cross-group collaboration, and coordinate Governance Group Chairs Committee.
Actuarial Analysis
  • Support Insurance Risk Management: Provide actuarial analysis in support of Securian's insurance risk management, including mortality, longevity, morbidity, and policyholder behavior.
  • Lead Risk Management Frameworks: Develop and maintain risk management frameworks for Securian's insurance risks, including scenario testing, stress testing, risk appetite, and risk tolerances.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand risk exposures and influence risk management strategies.
  • Lead ERM Stress Testing: Engage in ERM stress testing, collaborating with solutions groups to collect and analyze stress testing results.
  • Develop Enterprise Risk Appetite Statement: Engage senior leaders to develop and maintain an enterprise risk appetite statement for individual financial risks.
Actuarial Leadership
  • Provide Actuarial Leadership: Provide leadership in support of ERM initiatives, including operational and financial risks, capital, and governance.
  • Support Market Segment and Shared Solutions Initiatives: Provide analysis, ERM expertise, and ensure alignment with our risk appetite, leading engagement with solutions groups where aligned with core responsibilities.
  • Communicate and Influence ERM Activities: Communicate and influence ERM activities across Securian Financial.

Qualifications: ASA or near-FSA actuarial designation, strong creative, analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, decision-making skills, ability to act independently, high degree of initiative, ability to assess the big picture and complete detailed analysis, ability to handle confidential information appropriately, self-motivated and flexible, ability to work directly with associates.

Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of ERM concepts, demonstrated leadership experience.

Physical Job Requirements: Ability to utilize the keyboard, computer and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day, ability to work at least 40 hours per week, ability to utilize the phone and/or virtual meeting platform for 1-4 hours per day.

Estimated Base Pay Range: $84,155.00. Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc.
