Job Summary

The Product Development Engineer will play a key role in driving innovation and technical excellence at BlueScope. This position is responsible for developing and implementing standards and protocols to support the introduction of new products to the US Market. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of product development and a proven track record of influencing professional associations to recognize the attributes of products formally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gain recognition in ASTM standards for premium branded products.
  • Gain accreditation for premium branded products in the cool roof council assessment, including optimizing the product for cool pigments and verifying the processing and performance capability of this optimization.
  • Support a future roadmap of product development for premium branded products in the US and execute each stage with the support of local and international teams.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Material Science or similar technical field.
  • 5+ years in product development.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Metal roofing product experience.

  • Ability to develop written procedures, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Knowledge of Oracle-Based ERP Systems.
  • Efficient organization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Ability to review and understand technical data.
  • Work safely at all times and supports all business safety initiatives and requirements.
