Ulteig is seeking a highly skilled Protection Engineer to join our Automation, Integration, and System Protection (AISP) Department in the greater Sacramento, CA area. As a technical leader, you will be responsible for design, development, and commissioning activities for protective relay replacement projects. Your expertise will be essential in planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating detailed phases of assigned project work.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical guidance for engineers/technicians and make design recommendations
- Perform design reviews, field demolition, and construction support
- Lead onsite commissioning activities and provide troubleshooting support for protective relay replacement projects
- Review relay setting development and coordination, perform protection system event analysis, and develop a relay test plan
- Develop SCADA/HMI design and lead onsite demolition and construction engineering support
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent
- PE registration is required
- 8+ years of engineering and commissioning experience
- Effective mentoring skills and experience reviewing and/or producing one-lines, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel elevations, and bills of materials
- Near expert of HV substation equipment, MV electrical apparatus, and protective relaying
- Experience leading onsite commissioning, demolition, and construction engineering support
- Familiarity with industry standards, such as NERC PRC, and knowledge of SCADA systems and programming
- Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
