The role of the IT Consultant – Exchange/O365 Administrator encompasses the management, oversight, and maintenance of the Exchange environment, which supports a diverse user base exceeding 15,000 individuals.
Importance of the Role:
The Exchange/O365 environment is vital for the operational success of Entergy. The Exchange Administrator is integral not only to the upkeep of this environment but also to its strategic planning and future management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Execute daily management tasks for Microsoft Exchange and its supporting infrastructure, both on-premises and within M365.
2. Address escalations related to customer or team incidents.
3. Collaborate in the design and implementation of an advanced Exchange environment.
4. Generate necessary system reports, including audits and performance metrics.
5. Provide resolution for issues, conduct root cause analysis, and maintain documentation of all messaging-related incidents.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred, ideally in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Experience:
- A minimum of 6 years in a role as an Exchange Administrator or similar position.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server.
- Proficiency with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Azure.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and administration.
- Familiarity with email security standards and practices.
- Understanding of network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, and firewalls.
- Direct experience with at least one ticketing system (e.g., Service Now, Remedy).
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to manage and maintain Microsoft Exchange servers and related infrastructure effectively.
- Proficient in troubleshooting Microsoft Exchange issues collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Conduct regular system monitoring and verify the completion of scheduled tasks.
- Provide tier 2 and 3 support for Exchange and messaging-related challenges.
- Assist users with email configuration and access troubleshooting.
- Maintain user accounts, distribution groups, resources, and permissions.
- Implement and manage email security protocols.
- Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Capability to work effectively in a multi-location, cross-functional environment.
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes for sustainable value delivery.
