Job Summary

Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dependable individual to join our team as a Residence Attendant-On Call. The successful candidate will provide support to residents in a transitional shelter environment, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for residents in case of emergency.
  • Coordinate the daily operations of the shelter, including room assignments and resident activities.
  • Conduct regular rounds of the shelter to ensure resident safety and address any concerns.
  • Provide assistance to residents with problems and questions, and offer guidance on shelter policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of domestic violence and its impact on families, and provide support to residents accordingly.
  • Answer phones and monitor the front door and guest entrance.
  • Ensure residents comply with shelter rules and policies.
  • Record significant activities and events.
  • Oversee volunteer activities and ensure they are aligned with shelter goals.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6-12 months of related experience preferred.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic reading, writing, math, and computer skills.
  • Good conversation skills and a friendly demeanor.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to maintain organized logs of activities and services provided.
  • Physically capable of performing tasks that require standing, lifting, bending, and pushing.
