Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors on campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain complete confidentiality with regard to all campus information
  • Utilize technology such as computers, radio systems, telephones, and other communication equipment
  • Manage and direct employees in general patrol, traffic enforcement, and investigative work
  • Possess exceptional communication and negotiation skills to maintain the dual relationship of law enforcement and public service
  • Enforce the laws of the State of North Carolina and the United States
  • Respond to emergency, medical, and other required situations
  • Contribute to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and Welcoming College statement
  • Support workforce diversity in all its aspects
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Must meet the requirements to become a sworn Police Officer in North Carolina
  • NC Basic Law Enforcement Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Valid NC Drivers' License
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with a NC law enforcement agency and a current North Carolina Probationary Law Enforcement Certification
  • Two years of full-time experience with a NC law enforcement agency and a current General Law Enforcement Certification
  • AAS Degree or higher level of education
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification or EMT Certification
  • Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language
