Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Police Liaison to join our team at Health Care and Rehabilitation Services (HCRS). As a Police Liaison, you will play a critical role in building relationships between law enforcement and the community, providing support and resources to individuals in crisis, and promoting a culture of understanding and respect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals in need, working closely with law enforcement to ensure a safe and effective response.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies and organizations to provide referrals and resources to individuals in crisis.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement to identify and address community needs, developing and implementing strategies to improve public safety and well-being.
  • Provide education and training to law enforcement and community members on mental health, substance use, and other social service issues.
  • Participate in community outreach and engagement efforts to build trust and promote understanding between law enforcement and the community.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in a related field, plus one to two years of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to listen effectively and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, with professional experience in human services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement culture and procedures, with the ability to build strong relationships with law enforcement personnel.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a variety of settings, including police departments, community agencies, and individuals' homes. The Police Liaison will work closely with law enforcement, often in their cruisers, and may be required to transport individuals receiving services. The work environment may be unpredictable, with unpleasant odors and other disagreeable factors present at times.

This is a full-time position, with a combination of mostly second and third shifts, including weekend hours. The Police Liaison will be required to work independently, with minimal supervision, and will be expected to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HCRS policies and procedures.
