Job Summary

Dismas Charities is seeking a skilled Counselor to join our team in providing quality, cost-effective community-based residential and non-residential supervision and treatment services. As a Counselor, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals to heal and become productive and responsible citizens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Treatment Programs: Implement agency policies and procedures in all areas related to counseling and treatment programs, and all applicable documentation.
  • Client Planning and Progress: Develop, coordinate, monitor, evaluate, and document individual program planning according to the specific needs of each client, including relevant program goals, referrals, and individual, family, and group counseling strategies.
  • Resident Movement and Progress: Guide, monitor, and document relevant aspects of resident movement, behavior, and progress.
  • System Utilization: Timely use of and timely submission of resident release plans, home confinement plans, and termination letters.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate all relevant information to supervisory staff, in regard to the agency, the facility, and the resident.
  • Staff Coverage and Meetings: Provide staff duty coverage as scheduled and attend and participate in all meetings as required.
  • Liaison and Community Engagement: Initiate and maintain cooperative and effective liaison activities with supervising authorities and other agencies, community groups, and professional associations.
Requirements
  • Education: Four-year degree in social human services, criminal justice, or behavioral science program from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience working in human services, or community-based services.
  • Technical Skills: Personal computer (PC) work experience using Windows 2000 or XP operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite with a focus on Word and Excel applications, and basic PC concepts.
  • Soft Skills: Good typing, spelling, grammar, organizational, and phone skills.
