Estimator for Heavy Civil Projects

Role and Responsibilities:

As an Estimator specializing in Heavy Civil, Roads & Bridges, you will report directly to the VP of Estimating and will have the rewarding opportunity to:

  • Perform calculations on a diverse range of statistical data, including quantity take-offs, material pricing, labor costs per hour, and equipment expenses.
  • Analyze historical data such as purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity reports to create summary documents that inform future estimates.
  • Assist in the development of project updates and bid package estimates.
  • Maintain organized documentation to support estimating figures.
  • Help align conceptual estimates with actual cost data.
  • Take on additional tasks as assigned by your supervisor.

Key Skills and Abilities:

A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution is preferred, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, engineering, or a comparable field.

Essential qualifications include:

  • In-depth knowledge of construction materials and familiarity with material designations.
  • Thorough understanding of estimating methodologies, cost management, and material pricing.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in mathematical calculations and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, and cost coding systems.
  • Expertise in Bluebeam and MS Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proven history of reliability, diligence, and meticulousness.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
