Strategic Communications Specialist

Job Summary
The Communications Manager will develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to promote the goals and mission of the African American Public History Initiative (AAPHI) at Tufts University. This includes developing and overseeing the design and content for the AAPHI website and social media communications, as well as creating high-quality materials and messaging to engage with various stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communications and public engagement, with experience in developing and implementing effective communications strategies. They will also have excellent writing and design skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to achieve the goals of the AAPHI.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to promote the goals and mission of the AAPHI
- Develop and oversee the design and content for the AAPHI website and social media communications
- Create high-quality materials and messaging to engage with various stakeholders
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to achieve the goals of the AAPHI
- Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of communications strategies
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of progressive communications experience and management experience
- Experience in education or non-profit setting preferred
- Experience with African American Public History preferred
- Advanced degree and experience in education or non-profit setting preferred
- Experience ensuring compliance of web page content with W3C and Section 508 (ADA) accessibility standards preferred
