Public Works Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Public Works Specialist in the Streets Department of the City of Hampton, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the preparation, maintenance, and repair of concrete projects, working closely with engineers and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the preparation, maintenance, and repair of concrete projects, including reading and interpreting engineering plans and specifications.
- Work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality results and meet project deadlines.
- Supervise and train junior staff members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Develop and implement safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless project execution and effective communication.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of full-time equivalent experience in concrete construction, maintenance, and repair work preferred.
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
- Background check required prior to employment or promotion.
