Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Works/Wastewater Operator to join our team at the City of Hampton, VA. As a key member of our public works infrastructure team, you will be responsible for operating complex heavy-duty motorized and automotive equipment to maintain and repair the city's public works infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate specialized, complex heavy-duty motorized and automotive equipment to perform maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Work under close supervision to ensure compliance with set procedures and safety protocols.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve project goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some experience in equipment operation or a closely related field preferred.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license and satisfactory driving record required.
  • State of Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment required.
  • Pass a background check prior to employment or promotion.
