Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wastewater Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at the City of Hampton, VA. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining complex heavy-duty motorized and automotive equipment to ensure the efficient and safe operation of our wastewater infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment, including heavy-duty motorized and automotive equipment, to perform tasks such as digging trenches, repairing and replacing sewer lines, and hauling construction materials.
  • Work under close supervision to ensure compliance with established procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some experience in equipment operation or a related field preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
