Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant, Certified to join our team at Duke Primary Care. As an integral member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care and support our medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Taking medical histories and recording vital signs
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients and preparing them for examinations and procedures
  • Assisting medical and nursing staff during examinations and procedures
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
  • Performing basic laboratory tests in the clinic/office
  • Removing sutures/staples and changing sterile and non-sterile dressings
  • Documenting patient records
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Greeting patients and answering telephones
  • Scheduling appointments and checking patients out
  • Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services
  • Updating and filing patient medical records
  • Filling out insurance forms and handling billing and bookkeeping
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA
  • BLS certification
  • Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES (strongly preferred)
  • High school or GED graduation required
