Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and certified medical assistant to join our team in a full-time role at Panther Creek Family Practice.

Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians with examinations, maintain accurate medical records, and perform administrative tasks.
  • Collect patient and family data, including medical and social history.
  • Review patient's current medication list, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.
  • Administer medications under the direction of a provider.
  • Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy.
  • Perform tests, such as EKG and eye exams, under the direction of a provider.
  • Review patient records to determine routine health screenings.
  • Prepare, clean, and stock exam and treatment rooms.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments.
  • Assist with patient registration, check-in/check-out, appointment scheduling, and scheduling of tests and treatments.
  • Answer clinic telephone and assist with in-basket under the direction of a provider or nurse.
  • Assist in emergency situations as directed by a provider or nurse.
Requirements
  • Medical Assistant certification by either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA).
  • Basic Life Support Certification from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required.
  • Prior medical assistant or medical assistant externship experience preferred.

This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System.

This is not a State employed position.
