Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Athletic Trainer to join our team at Franklin City Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating, advising, and treating athletes to assist recovery from injury, avoid injury, or maintain peak fitness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial assessments of athletes' injuries or illnesses to provide emergency or continued care and determine whether they should be referred to physicians for treatment.
  • Provide care for athletic injuries, including applying protective or injury preventive devices such as tape, bandages, or braces.
  • Evaluate athletes' readiness to play and provide participation clearances when necessary and warranted.
  • Assess and report the progress of recovering athletes to coaches and physicians.
  • Advise athletes on the proper use of equipment and develop training programs and routines designed to improve athletic performance.
  • Plan and implement comprehensive athletic injury prevention programs.
  • Attend all home games and any other games designated by the Athletic Director.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • Eligibility or possession of Virginia Collegiate Professional License, Postgraduate Professional License, or Technical Professional License with appropriate endorsement in Sports Medicine/Athletic Trainer.
  • Certification as an athletic trainer through the BOC and certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare related reports.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time, exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer, to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids, hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone, speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone, physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds, and to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
