Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Trainer to join our team at Franklin City Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing top-notch athletic training services to our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluating and Treating Athletes: Conduct thorough assessments of athletes' injuries or illnesses to provide emergency or continued care, and determine whether they should be referred to physicians for treatment.
  • Providing Care for Athletic Injuries: Offer expert care for athletic injuries, including applying protective or injury preventive devices such as tape, bandages, or braces.
  • Evaluating Athletes' Readiness to Play: Assess athletes' readiness to participate in sports and provide participation clearances when necessary and warranted.
  • Advising Athletes on Equipment Use: Advise athletes on the proper use of equipment to prevent injuries and improve performance.
  • Developing Injury Prevention Programs: Plan and implement comprehensive athletic injury prevention programs to reduce the risk of injury and improve overall athletic performance.
  • Attending Games and Events: Attend all home games and other events designated by the Athletic Director to provide support and care to athletes.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Must possess a Bachelor's degree in education or a related field and be eligible or possess Virginia Collegiate Professional License, Postgraduate Professional License, or Technical Professional License with appropriate endorsement in Sports Medicine/Athletic Trainer.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.
  • Certifications and Knowledge: Must be a certified athletic trainer through the BOC, and be certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid. Must possess a thorough knowledge of the VHSL regulations and other regulations governing high school athletic programs.
  • Organizational and Leadership Skills: Must possess excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills, and be able to maintain accurate records and prepare related reports.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time, exhibit manual dexterity to perform various tasks, and have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. The work environment is typically a school/classroom setting, with occasional field trips away from school.
