Pediatric Healthcare Nurse Practitioner

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will engage in a collaborative healthcare setting, delivering direct medical services to participants of the program, while also reviewing and updating clinical protocols, policies, and procedures pertinent to the delivery of healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

• Operate within an independent clinical environment, exercising the full extent of APRN licensure and practice scope.

• Deliver direct health services to program participants in accordance with licensure and national board certification, which includes diagnostic evaluations, developing care plans, prescribing medications and therapies, as well as ordering and interpreting lab and imaging tests, and providing health education.

• Administer nursing care services such as taking measurements, administering medications, and collecting and processing specimens.

• Refer clients requiring advanced care or hospitalization to suitable facilities.

• Facilitate referrals for additional services as necessary.

• Act as a clinical resource for team members in the area of board certification.

• Ensure confidentiality and maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and services rendered.

• Record clinical encounter notes in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) using the SOAP format, assign appropriate ICD-10 codes, and finalize charts within the required timeframe.

• Mentor students participating in the interprofessional education program.

• Accurately document the level of service code and review billing information in the EHR prior to chart approval.

• Uphold clinical efficiency standards.

• Collaborate with designated physicians and delegating authorities.

• Conduct individualized and group health education sessions.

• Adhere to state laws and regulations as stipulated by the Georgia State Board of Nursing and the Georgia Composite Medical Board.

Administrative Duties:

• Attend meetings as directed by the program or supervisor.

• Participate in clinical governance initiatives.

• Engage with key partners and stakeholders.

• Take part in continuing education opportunities.

• Maintain active state licensure, national board NP certification, and BLS certification.

• Oversee assigned program initiatives (such as vaccination programs, medication assistance programs, laboratory programs, wellness programs, etc.).

• Support projects related to clinical service delivery as assigned by the Chief Clinical Officer.

• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Master’s degree in Nursing is mandatory.

• A current, active, and unencumbered Georgia License as a Registered Professional Nurse is required.

• A current, active, and unencumbered authorization to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Georgia is necessary.

• National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an accredited body (AANP, ANCC, PNCB, etc.) is essential.

• BLS certification from the American Heart Association for healthcare professionals is required.

Experience:

• A minimum of four years of nursing experience as a Registered Nurse is required.

• At least one year of experience in an outpatient setting as a Nurse Practitioner post-APRN licensure is preferred; three or more years is highly desirable.

• Previous experience working with vulnerable populations in a healthcare environment or in a free/charitable clinic is advantageous.
