Job Overview:

The Delivery Driver Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing drivers and managing the delivery fleet across multiple locations, ensuring that every customer receives exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversees delivery operations seven days a week across various markets by recruiting and scheduling an efficient team of regular and seasonal drivers. In peak times, this role may involve participating in the delivery of petroleum products.
  2. Establishes performance standards for drivers, focusing on customer relationship building, supporting growth and retention objectives, promoting corporate image, and ensuring safe driving practices.
  3. Conducts weekly team meetings to share achievements, metrics, and delivery expectations.
  4. Engages in monthly one-on-one performance discussions with drivers.
  5. Regularly accompanies drivers on routes to assess adherence to established delivery and driving standards, addressing any areas for improvement.
  6. Utilizes the Performance Scorecard to evaluate and discuss employee performance.
  7. Coordinates the scheduling of vehicle repairs, maintenance, licensing, and inspections.
  8. Maintains comprehensive driver and vehicle maintenance records in compliance with federal and state regulations and company policies.
  9. Communicates consistently with the Delivery Center Manager and Routing Specialists to align trucks and drivers with customer demand based on forecasts.
  10. Participates in driver training programs, ensuring all drivers are trained in the safe handling and delivery of petroleum products.
  11. In locations with local bulk storage facilities, ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.
  12. Promotes safety through regular safety meetings, investigating incidents, and familiarizing with relevant laws and company safety protocols.

Additional Responsibilities:

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience Required:

A minimum of three years of management experience is essential.

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

Licensing and Certification:

A Class B Commercial Driver's License with hazardous materials endorsement is preferred. Willingness to obtain this license is required.

Daily Interactions:

The Delivery Driver Manager regularly interacts with customers, drivers, and office personnel, working closely with the General Manager and Regional Director.

Decision-Making Authority:

This role involves making decisions related to hiring, maintenance issues, and delivery operations based on safety and weather considerations, with most decisions made in consultation with senior management.

Safety Responsibilities:

Safety is paramount in the delivery of petroleum products. Any incidents, spills, or delivery errors must be reported immediately, followed by a thorough investigation.

Equipment Utilized:

Utilizes computers and standard office equipment, as well as delivery trucks and associated equipment during product deliveries.

Work Environment:

The position is primarily office-based in a fast-paced environment, with occasional on-the-road responsibilities during emergencies or unusual situations.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires frequent standing, walking, and sitting, along with regular use of hands and arms for tasks such as reaching and handling equipment. Communication skills are essential for effective interaction via phone, radio, and in-person.
