Patient Safety Specialist Job Description

Nemours Children's Health is seeking a highly skilled Patient Safety Specialist to join our team. As a Patient Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in assisting in the management and coordination of our patient safety program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the analysis of human, organizational, and system factors contributing to adverse events
  • Work with the Patient Safety team to identify and implement risk reduction strategies that promote patient safety
  • Lead institutional patient safety improvement activities and participate in the review process of adverse events with clinical teams
  • Collaborate with clinicians and hospital leaders to develop processes and systems to improve patient safety
  • Facilitate timely follow-up and/or case review utilizing established report and review processes
  • Prepare institutional reports and coordinate all follow-up and communications with external regulatory agencies
  • Regularly review trends and findings from the electronic patient safety reporting system to identify trends or vulnerabilities
  • Work with clinical teams and hospital leaders to plan improvements to patient care and patient safety
  • Lead clinical teams in developing and implementing practice and system changes designed to prevent errors, improve clinical care, and enhance patient safety
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • RN or previous patient safety experience preferred
  • Human factors, error management, and cultural/organizational change experience preferred
  • CPPS or equivalent preferred
  • Three years' experience in an acute healthcare setting required
  • Pediatric experience preferred
