Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse EMS Coordinator to join our dynamic Emergency Department team at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will provide clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive high-quality, efficient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet Assumption of Care standards as set by HCA, ensuring seamless transitions of care for patients arriving via EMS.
  • Collaborate with EMS partners to create a culture of teamwork, driving improved outcomes and service excellence.
  • Assist in managing department flow, coordinating with assigned Clinical Nurse Coordinator to optimize patient care.
  • Provide recommendations related to the EMS offloading process, ensuring efficient and effective patient care.
  • Recommend and implement courses of action, including training and development of relief EMS RNs, to enhance patient care and staff performance.
  • Responsible for properly receiving patients and initiating patient care, ensuring continuity of care through effective handoffs.
  • Function as a clinical resource for staff members, providing education and support to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Prepare and ensure equipment in the EMS offload area is functional, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Participate in quarterly educational and training events with Hospital staff and EMS agencies, staying up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Critical Care or Emergency Department setting.
  • Preferred prehospital work experience.
  • Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire.
  • Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
  • Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • American Heart Association ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • American Heart Association PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and/or ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • Current NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills.
