We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Emergency Department team as an EMS Coordinator. This role requires a strong clinical background and excellent communication skills to ensure seamless patient care and efficient department operations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical expertise to ensure high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- Collaborate with EMS partners to create a team-oriented environment that supports improved patient outcomes and service.
- Assist in managing department flow through coordination with assigned Clinical Nurse Coordinator.
- Recommend and implement courses of action, including training and development of relief EMS RNs.
- Responsible for properly receiving patients and initiating patient care.
- Will properly hand off each patient to receiving RN for continuity of care.
- Functions as a clinical resource for staff members and assists in necessary education of the nursing staff.
- Prepares and ensures equipment in the EMS offload area is functional.
- Participates in quarterly educational and training events with Hospital staff and EMS agencies.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Critical Care or Emergency Department setting.
- Preferred prehospital work experience.
- Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure.
- Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
- Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
- Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- American Heart Association ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
- American Heart Association PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and/or ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
- Current NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
