Job Summary:
The West Virginia Department of Education is seeking a Substitute Educational Assistant to provide support to teachers and students in various educational settings. As a Substitute Educational Assistant, you will assist teachers with instructional activities, supervise students, and perform various administrative tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Teachers: Provide support to teachers with instructional activities, such as preparing materials, leading small groups, and assisting with classroom management.
- Supervise Students: Supervise students during transitions, recess, and other times when teachers are not present.
- Perform Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phones, taking messages, and maintaining records.
- Bus Monitor: Supervise students getting on and off the bus, and ensure their safety during transportation.
- Provide Services: Provide services to students with special needs, as documented on IEPs, 504 plans, or SAT plans.
- Maintain a Positive Work Environment: Maintain a positive and productive work environment, and participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
Requirements:
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience: Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Classification:
The Substitute Educational Assistant will be classified as an Aide I, Aide II, Aide III, Aide IV, Aide V, or Aide VI, depending on their qualifications and experience.
