Volunteer Position Overview
Responsibility:
To enhance the quality-of-life for LGBTQ+ consumers by providing support and resources.
Key Functions:
- Advocacy: To advocate for the rights and well-being of LGBTQ+ consumers.
- Resource Development: To assist in the development and maintenance of a database of LGBTQ+ resources, both locally and nationally.
- Vetting and Verification: To confirm and complete the vetting of resources to ensure their accuracy and reliability.
- Social Support: To assist with LGBTQ+ social groups as needed, providing a supportive and inclusive environment for participants.
- Event Planning: To assist in the development of procedures for LGBTQ+ social outreach events, ensuring their success and impact.
- Confidentiality: To maintain confidential information regarding the consumers of LGBTQ+ social groups, upholding their trust and dignity.
Requirements and Skills:
- Volunteer Application Process: To complete a thorough volunteer application process, including an interview with Volunteer Programs Staff and Program Director, and a CORI check.
- Technical Skills: To possess basic computer and technology skills, including proficiency in web-browsers, Microsoft Office, and video conferencing tools.
- Communication Skills: To have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with consumers and colleagues.
