Job Overview

Position Summary:

This role combines the responsibilities of a Kitchen Manager and a Sous Chef, providing a comprehensive leadership approach. The Culinary Operations Supervisor is a Full-Time Year-Round position that will manage winter operations, catering events, weddings, and summer culinary activities.

The Culinary Operations Supervisor will oversee the functionality of all kitchens within the Hospitality Division. The primary focus is to ensure that all kitchen operations are conducted in a safe, profitable, organized, consistent, and professional manner. The outlets under the supervision of the Culinary Operations Supervisor include, but are not limited to: Hart Prairie Lodge, Freemont, Agassiz, 9500, Trails End Food Trailer, and Humphreys Yurt. This position will also engage with the Kitchen at Ski Lift Lodge.

Snowbowl operates as a high-volume facility that necessitates an individual who is exceptionally organized, excels in proactive communication, and possesses the skills to mentor, train, and hold team members accountable. This is a hands-on role that requires considerable time spent standing in and around kitchen operational areas.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations of the Culinary Operations Supervisor:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulations of the State of Arizona as well as Arizona Snowbowl, ensuring staff adherence to these standards at all times.
  • Facilitate effective communication within the department, with other departments, and with guests in a professional manner regarding Arizona Snowbowl.
  • Oversee employee conduct, including hiring, training, scheduling, appearance, guest interaction, and overall time management.
  • Develop Menus and Recipes for Catering Events, Winter and Summer Operations.
  • Conduct monthly food inventory and manage food costs.
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness and oversee the proper opening and closing procedures of any kitchen under your supervision.
  • Accountable for Health Inspection Standards and Results.
  • Manage daily kitchen operations and efficiencies.
  • Execute Meal Services relevant to the Season:
    • Winter Ski Season
    • Summer Season
    • Wedding Season
    • Ski Lift Lodge (Year Round)

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Report to work in appropriate attire as specified in the Food and Beverage Handbook at the scheduled time.
  • Maintain the highest degree of professionalism and service.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and orderly work environment for employees and guests.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Arizona Snowbowl Employee Handbook and kitchen training manual.
  • Ability to handle weights of up to 65lbs.
