Fleet Maintenance Manager Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the day-to-day maintenance of our fixed route bus operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all contractual requirements are met, managing a budget for the maintenance program, and supervising a team of technicians and service workers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and direct a team of 10+ employees, including fleet technicians, service workers, and cleaners.
  • Oversee the maintenance of 50+ buses, ensuring that all vehicles are properly maintained and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules, prioritize tasks, and manage work assignments.
  • Manage parts inventories, vendors, and suppliers, ensuring that all necessary materials are available and within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and other stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Manage the financial and accounting aspects of the fleet maintenance operation, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and company policies.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience in managing maintenance functions in a transit bus maintenance shop, with a similar scope, size, and complexity.
  • Experience working with 50+ buses within the last year.
  • Previous experience in passenger transportation, preferably in a similar environment.
  • Ability to manage and interface with clients, track and control parts inventories, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize, implement, and manage work schedules, projects, and assignments.
  • ASE or manufacturer's certifications a plus.
