Job Summary

Abiomed, a leading provider of medical devices, is seeking a Human Factors Engineer Co-op to join our team. As a key member of our product development team, you will play a critical role in designing and developing next-generation products for heart failure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in human factors/usability strategy and contribute to human factors efforts for programs from concept through post-market support.
  • Develop an understanding of intended use environments and user types through interactions with users.
  • Work on problems that impact the broader program team and business, and participate in projects requiring identification and analysis of various factors.
  • Network with peers within the discipline and contribute to the voice of the customer from a human factors and technical application perspective.
  • Interact closely with product development teams to complete usability research and documentation.
Requirements:
  • BS/BA Degree in Human Factors Engineering, Usability Engineering, Cognitive Science, Anthropology, or equivalent.
  • Working experience in human factors/usability engineering, use case validation testing, or equivalent experience in product development and customer interactions.
  • Knowledge of human factors principles, task and use-related risk analysis methods, and user interface and user experience principles.
  • Familiarity with FDA, ISO, AAMI, and other relevant usability regulations and standards.
