Director of Affordable Housing Lending

About the Role:

The Director of Affordable Housing Lending will be responsible for soliciting, reviewing, and structuring potential loans for all product types. This role requires building relationships with internal and external customers and industry professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate existing relationships with borrowers to gain new loans.
  • Market Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA loan programs to potential new borrowers.
  • Continually monitor changing financing needs of affordable housing developers to inform product development.
  • Work with Marketing to develop materials for conferences, meetings, and website.
  • Help manage external relationships, including relationships with borrowers, loan capital providers, and loan committee members.
  • Enhance and grow multifamily loan program by designing new products or improving existing ones.
  • Represent Lument and attend conferences, events, and meetings as appropriate.
  • Shepherd transactions from origination to closing, acting as an advocate for borrower clients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of eight to ten years of experience in commercial mortgage banking and/or lending.
  • Professional experience in the affordable housing and/or FHA sector, with demonstrated success in creating relationships with borrowers and influential senior leaders.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial tools and products, including familiarity with public and private funding sources for capital and operating needs related to affordable housing.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with a desire to work in a highly external-facing role.
  • Strategic thinker, able to envision and articulate creative approaches to address community development opportunities.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks requiring attention to detail.
