Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Transportation Manager to oversee our logistics operations at Wholesale Produce Supply, LLC. In this vital position, you will be tasked with managing and enhancing our transportation processes, ensuring the prompt and efficient delivery of products while adhering to the highest safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate and implement transportation strategies aimed at maximizing efficiency, minimizing expenses, and boosting customer satisfaction.
  • Address and resolve transportation-related challenges and customer inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with transportation providers and vendors.
  • Track transportation performance metrics and take corrective actions as necessary to achieve objectives.
  • Oversee the management of transportation operations and maintenance facilities.
  • Ensure the upkeep and servicing of company vehicles.
  • Guarantee compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations concerning transportation operations, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Assess and integrate technological solutions to enhance transportation systems, processes, and tracking capabilities.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including operations, sales, and customer service, to design optimal transportation networks that align with business goals.
  • Analyze transportation data and trends to uncover opportunities for ongoing improvement, cost reduction, and enhanced customer service.
  • Manage the transportation budget effectively.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and new regulations to foster innovation and ensure compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; a bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation management, logistics management, or a comparable leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation operations, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Outstanding leadership and communication abilities, with a talent for motivating and developing teams.
  • Proficient in transportation management systems (TMS) and related software.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, emphasizing data-driven strategies.
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities to handle competing priorities.
  • Proven experience in managing transportation budgets and controlling expenses.
  • Familiarity with various transportation modalities.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for operational oversight and industry engagement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
  • Capacity to sit at a computer for extended periods.
