Job Summary

The Directional Drill Operator is a key member of our team at Lightspeed Construction Group, responsible for operating a Horizontal Directional Drill in accordance with OSHA guidelines. This role requires a strong focus on safety and may involve directing the workflow of a crew during drilling operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment, including the directional drill, to ensure safe and efficient construction processes.
  • Read and interpret specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements and plan procedures.
  • Inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Confer with project managers and other departments to resolve problems and coordinate activities.
  • Arrange for repairs of equipment and machinery, and review and process damage claims.
Requirements
  • Ability to meet background requirements and pass a drug test.
  • Knowledge of the telecommunications industry and ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise and motivate others.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively.
  • Valid driver's license required, CDL-A preferred.
Additional Qualifications
  • 1+ years of construction work experience.
  • Understanding of all safety requirements per OSHA specifications.
