About the Role

Sterling Search Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Development (SDOD) to join our client, Human Options, a leading nonprofit organization in Orange County. As a key member of the leadership team, the SDOD will be responsible for driving the growth of development revenue, expanding and diversifying funding sources, and leading a team of fundraising professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve revenue growth and diversification
  • Lead a team of fundraising professionals, including a grant coordinator, development coordinator, and other staff members
  • Manage a portfolio of donors, including major gifts, corporate and foundation gifts, and annual appeals
  • Coordinate and execute fundraising events, including the Fall Luncheon, Annual Meeting, and Serious Fun Gala
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, Advancement Committee, and community partners
  • Collaborate with program and financial staff to identify funding opportunities and develop grant proposals
  • Oversee the implementation of a comprehensive schedule of grant inquiries, proposals, and reports
  • Develop and execute a stewardship plan to recognize and thank donors
  • Provide strategic leadership and implementation for year-end direct mail campaigns
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of development experience with an emphasis on major gifts
  • 3+ years in a supervisory role
  • Proven track record in successfully establishing and growing long-term relationships with donors
  • Demonstrated management skills in motivating, directing, and managing staff and consultants
  • Broad-based knowledge of various development activities, including proposal and grant development, direct solicitations, and leveraging fundraising databases and support systems
What We Offer

A competitive salary range of $140,000 - $165,000, plus comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families affected by relationship violence.
