Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team at St. Tammany Health System. As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic tests and procedures to help diagnose and treat sleep disorders. You will work closely with our team of healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of our sleep program.

Responsibilities
  • Perform polysomnographic tests and procedures to diagnose and treat sleep disorders
  • Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment, including polysomnographs and sleep labs
  • Conduct patient interviews and gather medical history to determine the best course of treatment
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a polysomnography program associated with a state license and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency of all competencies
  • Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist and current license with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, or current temporary permit for Polysomnography Technician with Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, or current license with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist (must be a Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist) and have a the Sleep Disorders Certification or obtain Sleep Disorder certification within 6 months of hire
  • Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross
Physical Demands

This position requires good physical health and the ability to stand, sit, or walk for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required, and the ability to work with a moderate level of noise is necessary.
