Job Summary

The Senior Electronics Engineering Technician will work in a fast-paced environment as part of a talented team of Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality personnel. This role involves assisting the design engineering team with DVT and board bring-up, including building prototype products and performing electrical and environmental tests. Other responsibilities include incoming product inspections, product rework and updates, manufacturing and shipping support, and ability to multi-task. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, analytical, and numerical skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble prototype models based on engineering documentation and guidance from Engineers.
  • Provide direct support to design engineers during product DVT (Design Verification Testing).
  • Set up standard test apparatus or test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototypes and production models under the guidance of an Engineer.
  • Carry out product inspections and document findings following QA guidance.
  • Analyze and interpret test data along with identifying next steps to be taken.
  • Adjust, calibrate, align, and modify circuitry and components along with recording effects on device performance.
  • Write basic technical reports and develop charts, graphs, and basic schematics to describe and illustrate an item's operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations.
  • Verify functionality of newly designed products performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical assembly of factory test station equipment.
  • Perform basic failure analysis, records results and provides corrective actions.
  • Run experiments under guidance of an engineer.
Requirements
  • Ability to solder small wires and larger SMT components to PC Boards.
  • Ability to use measuring and diagnostic equipment, such as DVMs, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Understanding of failure analysis, corrective, and preventative action techniques.
  • Solid knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Excellent workmanship skills.
  • Ability to perform tests and keep accurate records.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and techniques.
Education and Experience
  • Associates Degree or 3 plus years' experience of equivalent technical work.
  • General understanding of electrical principles and terminology.
  • Experience with electrical laboratory measurement equipment a plus.
  • Ability to solder surface mount components.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
