POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Substance Use Prevention Specialist II, you will play a vital role in fostering healthy lifestyles and promoting positive community engagement. This position involves delivering educational initiatives, implementing evidence-based prevention strategies, and ensuring thorough documentation of activities. You will operate independently or under supervision, contributing to various collaborative teams and performance enhancement projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Execute job responsibilities with initiative and creativity, seeking additional tasks during slower periods. Manage time and resources effectively to fulfill the objectives of the Substance Use Prevention Model.

2. Uphold a strong commitment to exceptional customer service, adhering to organizational standards and demonstrating high ethical conduct. Flexibility in working with clients at different stages of their development is essential, along with a proactive approach to personal and organizational improvement.

3. Prioritize the needs of students and community partners, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and dedicating time to personal growth services.

4. Achieve or surpass Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

5. Treat all individuals with respect and dignity, regardless of their background or identity.

6. Collaborate effectively with colleagues, providing constructive feedback and appreciating diverse perspectives. Maintain professionalism and positivity within a team-oriented environment.

7. Complete all necessary documentation accurately and promptly, incorporating feedback from audits as needed.

8. Align interactions with the strategic goals and values of Centerstone, presenting a professional demeanor at all times.

9. Proactively identify and resolve issues, offering suggestions for service enhancement and fostering a culture of excellent customer experience.

10. Manage crisis situations effectively, ensuring the safety of clients and making appropriate referrals as necessary.

11. Deliver direct services for in-school and after-school programs, providing support and education to youth and their families through the Youth Prevention Education Program.

12. Organize and oversee special events for the Youth Advisory Council, including logistics and parental permissions.

13. Recruit and train volunteers, parents, and interns to support youth services.

14. Facilitate parent education and support activities, including newsletters and satisfaction surveys.

15. Develop community awareness campaigns addressing prevention issues and social norms.

16. Conduct assessments to gather data on community trends and substance use rates.

17. Provide technical assistance to community organizations regarding best practices in prevention.

18. Transport youth participants to various programs and events safely.

19. Implement and adapt approved program curricula to meet the needs of the service population.

20. Attend departmental and community meetings to report on progress and opportunities.

21. Engage in community advocacy for policy changes and new prevention initiatives.

22. Present on substance use prevention topics to educational and community organizations.

23. Participate in community initiatives, including media campaigns and fundraising efforts.

24. Availability for occasional weekend and evening work as required by program needs.

25. Attend staff meetings and participate in assigned committees, maintaining effective communication with team members.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Promote services to external stakeholders as appropriate.
2. Engage in training to enhance job-related skills.
3. Provide community education as needed.
4. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Human Services or a Bachelor's Degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records and documentation systems is necessary.
  • Successful completion of background checks and pre-employment screenings is mandatory.

$16.50 - $23.10 per hour
