Ambulatory Clinic Pharmacist

The Department of Pharmaceutical Services at the University of California San Francisco provides a comprehensive range of services for patients cared for by the Medical Center. These services include drug procurement, storage, and security; safe, accurate, and timely preparation and distribution of drugs; clinical pharmacy services for patients; development of drug use policies; drug information services for clinicians and patients; and participation in technology assessment and quality assurance programs.
About the RoleThis position is eligible for a $10,000 Sign-on Bonus. As a Specialty Staff Pharmacist, you will provide pharmaceutical care to patients at Moffitt and Long Hospitals, UCSF Ambulatory Care Clinics and Comprehensive Cancer Centers, Mission Bay Hospitals, and specialized services to researchers on campus. You will perform a wide range of pharmaceutical care functions to ensure that drugs prescribed for and used by patients are safe and effective.
Responsibilities- Obtain medication histories and review and assess medication profiles
- Provide drug information to patients and health care providers
- Consult with prescribers and recommend drugs of choice
- Ensure access to medications and counsel patients on proper use
- Supervise pharmacy technicians to secure insurance authorizations and prepare and dispense prescription medications
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) or equivalent degree as determined by the National Board of Pharmacy
- Current license in good standing to practice pharmacy in the State of California
- Current certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
