We are seeking a highly skilled Foods Retail Merchandiser to join our team at Whole Foods Market - Massapequa, NY. As a key member of our retail operations team, you will be responsible for purchasing, replenishing, and merchandising prepared foods products. About the Role

  • ">
  • Purchase and replenish food products through proper buying procedures.">
  • Monitor and act upon open PO reports for purchases and credits in an accurate and timely manner.">
  • Control spoilage and shrink, achieve turn goals, participate in inventory management.">
  • Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.">
  • Assist with counter service and cooking as scheduled or as necessary.">
  • Communicate effectively with Kitchen Manager/Chef and Team Leader on ordering needs and issues.">
  • Maintain positive working relationships with vendors.">
  • Collaborate with Team Leader/Assistant Team Leader to cost recipes.">
  • Oversee customer special order procedures.">
  • Support leadership in conducting inventories.">
  • Meet and exceed purchasing and sales targets to maintain financial profitability.">
  • Ensure timely arrival to work station, adhere to grooming and dress code standards, and attend required trainings and meetings.">
  • Provide exceptional customer service, address customer needs promptly, and model suggestive selling techniques.">
  • Maximize sales potential by implementing effective prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising procedures.">
  • Familiarize yourself with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.">
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment, adhering to WFM cleanliness and safety standards.">
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensuring accuracy of signs and pricing.">
  • Report safety hazards and violations immediately.">

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Extensive product knowledge, including production, distribution, seasonal availability, trends, and nutritional information.">
  • Ability to negotiate price bids and create effective purchasing strategies.">
  • Working knowledge of merchandising expectations, WFM margin program, and profitability principles.">
  • Strong basic math skills and proficiency in using computer programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems.">
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with ability to convey enthusiasm and educate team members on product knowledge.">
  • Passion for natural foods and commitment to WFM's core values and mission.">
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.">
  • Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals.">
