Job Overview:

The Experienced Sous Chef collaborates closely with kitchen personnel to ensure that all culinary creations meet the company's standards for quality and presentation. This role emphasizes a proactive stance on hygiene and compliance with health regulations. The Sous Chef plays a crucial role in assisting the Executive Chef with the development of appealing and cost-effective menu specials. Responsibilities also include overseeing inventory and effectively scheduling the culinary team within their designated area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs and manages work schedules in alignment with budgetary expectations and operational requirements.
  • Ensures all team members are trained and adhere to safety and sanitation protocols, complying with all relevant laws.
  • Innovates new menu items, recipes, and food presentations.
  • Guarantees the availability of necessary materials and equipment for seamless department operations.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains kitchen staff as needed.
  • Maintains high standards of quality and presentation across all locations while managing production, waste, and spoilage.
  • Prepares and monitors annual budgets and financial plans.
  • Implements menu offerings and establishes quality and presentation standards.
  • Handles ordering and maintains appropriate inventory levels.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair policies and procedures, including safety, attendance, and equal employment opportunity policies, while demonstrating a commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Serve Safe certification preferred.
  • Formal culinary education or extensive experience in cooking and food production.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to manage multiple facilities and oversee food logistics.
  • Familiarity with kitchen tools, major cooking equipment, and pastry techniques.
  • Must be able to pass a mandatory drug test in accordance with company policy.
  • Must be able to pass a background check if 18 years or older, which may include credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Possession of a Food Handlers Card issued by Kansas City, Missouri.
