Job Title: Climate and Financial Regulation Policy Advocate

Public Citizen is a national, non-partisan, public interest group with a strong commitment to advancing policies that promote a swift, safe transition away from fossil fuels and promote racial, economic, and intergenerational justice.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated policy advocate to join our Climate Program and advance our policy development and advocacy at the intersection of climate and financial regulation.

Responsibilities

As a Climate and Financial Regulation Policy Advocate, you will be responsible for:

  • Policy Development and Advocacy: Identify emerging issues and opportunities and help develop policy proposals. Assist with or take the lead on drafting white papers, reports, fact sheets, letters, testimony, and comments on proposed rules.
  • Outreach and Collaboration: Represent Public Citizen in public forums. Participate actively in coalitions and, where appropriate, help organize and lead them.
  • Media and Public Education: Develop and maintain media relationships and respond to press inquiries, serving as a spokesperson. Help develop research and media strategies in coordination with other staff.
  • Making Things Happen: Above all, make a difference. Write the papers, recruit the partners, hold the meetings, work with the coalitions, lobby the regulators or members of Congress, organize the event—do what's needed to win.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Knowledge of or experience in banking and finance, or a willingness to learn and ability to learn quickly.
  • Outstanding analytical thinking, judgment, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Independence and strong impulses toward self-starting and self-finishing.
  • Ability to execute planned strategy while reacting to new developments and to balance multiple projects and priorities.
  • Collaborative spirit, high energy, and enthusiasm.
