Job Title: Climate Finance Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team in the Middle East and North Africa Region. As a Climate Finance Specialist, you will play a key role in providing analytical, technical, and operational support to projects that promote low-carbon growth and sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to policy dialogue with counterparts and advise on the development of policies and strategies to promote low-carbon growth.
  • Lead and contribute to analytics and advisory to promote capital markets development, including the issuance and management of green bonds, green taxonomies, and carbon credit markets.
  • Contribute and lead the development and implementation of lending and non-lending operations that promote low-carbon growth and sustainable development.
  • Represent the FCI Global Practice in client meetings and consultations and interact with government counterparts, financial sector, civil society, and other donors.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with country clients and CMUs and contribute to technical discussions with senior clients to determine the appropriate response to their request.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in finance, economics, environmental science, or related fields with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Specialized knowledge and experience in climate change, sustainable development, and green finance mechanisms.
  • Previous roles in relevant sectors, such as financial institutions, environmental organizations, or government agencies.
  • Experience in leading or participating in projects related to climate finance or green finance, especially in developing countries.
  • Practical experience in designing, implementing, and managing climate finance projects, including familiarity with international climate finance mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, risk assessment, and impact evaluation related to climate finance projects.
  • Understanding of development policies and objectives, particularly how they intersect with commercial finance and capital market principles.
