Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Sonora Quest. As a Clinical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of biological specimens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and prepare patient samples for testing, ensuring correct patient and specimen identification and specimen integrity.
  • Perform waived and moderate complexity testing under direct supervision, meeting performance standards and knowledge level determined for the approved testing.
  • Track and locate missing specimens, monitoring pending lists and performing maintenance activities on laboratory equipment as directed.
  • Participate in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures, following established methods and practices.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, promoting positive communications that enhance teamwork.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and must be 18 years or older if performing phlebotomy.
  • Progression through career ladder II-IV is subject to completion of career ladder requirements.
  • Position may require DHS Fingerprinting Certification or the ability to obtain fingerprint certification.
  • Dependent on department/location, candidate must possess a valid state driver's license in the state of employment and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.
  • Phlebotomy/CLA certification as defined by state regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous clinical laboratory experience.
  • Successful completion of a laboratory assistant program.
  • Basic knowledge of specimen requirements and handling.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
