Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Laboratory Tests: Conduct waived and non-waived tests as defined by CLIA '88 in an accurate and timely manner with supervision.
  • Ensure Compliance: Assist with department compliance with all pertinent laboratory accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA '88, JCAHO, CAP, OSHA).
  • Process Patient Samples: May process and prepare patient samples as required, ensuring correct patient and specimen identification and specimen integrity.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate courteously, professionally, effectively, and accurately with internal and external customers.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement: Participate in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures and promote and consistently meet department standards for productivity and quality.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science (transcripts will be reviewed to determine eligibility).
  • Certifications: MLT certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB) is preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent reading, writing, and math abilities, basic computer skills, and ability to perform detailed work, work with frequent interruptions, multi-task, problem solve, and memorization.
