Position Summary: We are in search of a proficient and seasoned Attorney to become a part of our legal team. This role will expand our current team of two in-house attorneys, bringing our total to three. The selected candidate will be tasked with managing legal issues related to real estate transactions, ensuring adherence to state and federal laws, and providing Title Opinions and Document Preparation for our various locations. A comprehensive understanding of real estate law, exceptional communication abilities, and a collaborative spirit are essential for this position.

Our operations are based on a flat fee structure, eliminating the need for time tracking for client billing; this role does not involve courtroom duties or the necessity to generate personal business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and scrutinize title commitments, abstracts, and surveys for accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Perform title searches and address title defects and other concerns to ensure clear title.
  • Draft and assess legal documents.
  • Provide legal advice and assistance to escrow officers, underwriters, and other team members.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding real estate transactions.
  • Stay informed on developments in real estate law and relay updates to the team.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law institution.
  • Active license to practice law in North Dakota and Minnesota.
  • 0-5 years of experience in real estate law, ideally with a focus on title and escrow services.
  • Strong knowledge of title insurance, title examinations, and real estate closings.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation capabilities.
  • Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
