This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at New Seasons Market as a Meat Assistant Manager. As a key member of our Meat and Seafood department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing department operations, and ensuring the highest level of product knowledge.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with the Meat and Seafood Manager to manage and provide oversight to all areas of the department.
- Assess, prioritize, and delegate tasks and production to ensure consistency of department conditions.
- Ensure all areas of the department are stocked, rotated, faced, and adhere to merchandising standards and category schematics.
- Order meat products according to anticipated sales and seasonal needs, and train staff to write orders and production schedules consistent with department goals and standards.
- Ensure all Meat and Seafood items are cut, trimmed, and processed to company standards.
- Build displays and arrange department products to make attractive presentations, highlighting featured, unique, and seasonal items.
- Partner with the Meat and Seafood Manager to plan for weekly ads, events, and holidays using tools and reports.
- Maintain professional vendor relationships and coordinate with the Promotions department to plan and conduct in-store tastings.
- Ensure customer special orders are accurately placed and delivered.
- Receive and unload merchandise, check quality, count, and condition, and communicate any issues to management and merchandising team.
- Stock and rotate products with attention to product quality and expiration dates, and maintain the organization, rotation, and cleanliness of back stock areas.
- Wrap, weigh, and price Meat and Seafood products according to department policy.
- Assist customers with product selection, share product knowledge, and make recommendations and suggestions based on customer needs.
- Ensure department compliance with company organic standards.
- Partner with the Meat and Seafood Manager to plan, lead, and analyze the monthly perishable inventory.
- Previous customer service, food service, retail, or grocery experience required.
- Knowledge of retail Meat and Seafood departments preferred, but butcher shop or meat fabrication industry experience acceptable.
- Prior meat cutting/fabrication experience highly preferred.
- Previous supervisory or management experience required.
- Entry to mid-level proficiency with MS Office, and working knowledge with POS, inventory, or other retail-specific software preferred.
- Skills to manage financial results, including labor, sales, and profit margin.
This role occurs in a grocery store environment, which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise level, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer.
