About the Role:

This position is responsible for assisting the Lead Meat Cutter in the processing of all cuts of beef, lamb, and pork products. The successful candidate will be responsible for ordering and maintaining production schedules, providing exceptional customer service, and contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment.

  • Maintain store cleanliness and equipment, and inform management of any problems.
  • Observe all company rules and policies, and understand and comply with specific department or location guidelines, tasks, and responsibilities.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Wrap, weigh, and price meat and seafood products according to department policy, dating, and government regulations.
  • Work with the Lead Meat Cutter to ensure all meat and seafood items are cut, trimmed, and processed in accordance with company standards.
  • Fulfill cutting, ordering, inventory, and other tasks as needed in the absence of the Lead Meat Cutter.
  • Support the ordering of meat products according to anticipated sales and seasonal needs, maintaining appropriate inventory levels to achieve sales and margin goals.
  • Stock, rotate, and face cases, adhering to Merch standards, category schematics, quality, and expiration dates.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, current ads, promotions, holidays, and events, and plan for weekly ads, events, and holidays using tools and reports.
  • Partner with the Meat and Seafood Manager to understand and respond to specific location trends.
  • Assist customers with product selection, share product knowledge, and make recommendations based on customer needs.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with products in the department, including terminology, cuts, recommended product uses, vendor/supplier information, and product labeling.
  • Adhere to department compliance with company organic standards.
  • Complete customer special orders thoroughly and provide follow-through as needed.
  • Maintain accurate pricing and signage that meet merchandising standards.
  • Follow company procedures for processing invoices, transfers, and credits.
  • Handle damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.
  • Maintain the organization, rotation, and cleanliness of back stock areas.
  • May participate in other activities, such as inventories, scheduling, and performance reviews.
  • Notify department management or Manager On Duty of any situations relating to customer service, safety, productivity, security, or any other situation that may have an adverse effect on the store.
Physical and Environmental Work Space:

This position works in a grocery store environment, which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise levels, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer. There may be exposure to certain allergens and/or chemicals.
