Patient Services Representative

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Services Representative to join our team at Prisma Health. As a key member of our front office team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and medical staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and timely patient registration, pre-certification, and charge capture services.
- Process and post payments, and balance cash drawers daily.
- Assist patients with insurance claims, benefits, and financial agreements.
- Coordinate patient pre-payments and enforce financial agreements prior to providing service.
- Process and distribute billing information, and follow up on unpaid accounts.
- Provide front office phone support and respond to routine requests for information.
- Screen visitors and maintain a clean and organized waiting area.
- Perform cashiering functions, including monitoring and balancing cash drawers daily.
- Prepare daily cash deposits and issue receipts.
- Code and post payments, and maintain required records, reports, and files.
- Work with patients to secure prepayment sources or financial agreements prior to providing service.
- Participate in educational activities and gather and verify superbills for specified practices.
- Enter all charge and same-day payment information for patient visits and hospital patients, verifying accuracy of coding, charging, and patient insurance status.
- Print daily reports, verifying charge entry balancing at day end.
- Back up and close computer files on a daily basis, logging as appropriate.
- Register new patients after verifying patient status on computer inquiry.
- Update financial information as indicated.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- No previous experience required.
- Associate's Degree in a technical specialty program of 18 months minimum in length - Preferred.
- Multi-specialty group practice setting experience - Preferred.
- Basic understanding of ICD-9 and CPT coding - Preferred.
Work Environment
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
