Job Summary:

As a Medical Laboratory Technician at SSM Health, you will play a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing routine and complex technical laboratory analyses. You will be responsible for operating complex electronic equipment, computers, and precision instruments to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment. Your attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will be essential in ensuring the accuracy of test results and reporting findings to physicians.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform a full range of laboratory tests from simple blood tests to more complex tests.
• Assess specimens for correct handling and quality.
• Confirm the accuracy of test results and report findings to physicians.
• Operate complex electronic equipment, computers, and precision instruments.
• Perform and evaluate quality control procedures.
• Perform periodic maintenance and assist with the calibration of instruments.
• Assist with the proper storage of hazardous materials.
• Maintain competencies and continuing education to keep informed of new developments in the field.
• Assist in the proficiency testing program in the lab.
• Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Requirements:

• Associate's degree or equivalent years of experience and education.
• No experience required.
• Physical requirements include frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs, frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Required professional license and/or certifications include Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - American Association for Bioanalysts (AAB), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - American Medical Technologists (AMT), or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) (International Included) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
